This 90 minute tour of the Caribbean Island of Barbados includes narration with slides and videos of the history, geography and stories of the Jewish community in Bridgeton, the largest city in Barbados. Our members Rich and Judy Berger recommend attending: “Neal is really full of great and interesting information. It would be great for all Jewish Vermont.” Neal will answer your questions in the last thirty minutes of the this zoom presentation.
Neal Rechtman is an American writer and historian who has lived in Barbados for six years. He is an active member of the tiny 50 peson Barbados Jewish community, giving him the distinction of being 2% of the entire Jewish population of the island. He holds a degree in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University and is a volunteer docent at the historic Nidhe Israel Synagogue in Bridgeton, Barbados.
